The Lab Technician plays a crucial role in the development and improvement of innovative cooking range appliances. As an integral part of the development team, the Lab Technician ensures that the company's cooking range products meet requirements while adhering to safety standards and quality control guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Research and development: Aids in the construction of prototypes and testing new designs or modified designs for compliance with standards and evaluation of performance. Provides valuable input based on experience.
Lab equipment: Maintains existing and specifies new lab equipment as required.
Prototyping and testing: Works with Engineers to Build and test prototypes of complete or partial appliances and evaluate their performance, safety, and efficiency. Feedback to engineers based on experience.
Collaboration: Works closely with engineers and designers to develop cooking range appliances that meet market demands, cost targets, and production requirements.
Test Procedures: Develops and maintains test procedures according to the standards and internal requirements.
Quality control: Helps to develop and maintain quality control standards for ensuring that finished products meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations.
Regulatory compliance: Ensures that cooking ranges meet all applicable local, national, and international regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
Technical documentation: Maintains test records, test procedures and relevant documentation.
Continuous improvement: Regularly reviews and analyzes lab equipment and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implements necessary changes to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
Position Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree or High school diploma or equivalent along with relevant work experience in a similar lab.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a similar cooking range lab with experience testing for compliance with ANSI Z21.1 and UL 858.
Technical skills: Comfortable with MS Excel, PPT etc. for collecting, processing, and communicating test results and data. Familiar with Gas combustion measurement, surface temperature measurements and the tests of ANSI Z21.1 and UL 858. Experienced with sheetmetal prototyping.
Knowledge of industry standards: Familiarity with ANSI Z21.1, UL 858 and other international regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines related to cooking range appliances.
Problem-solving abilities: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve design, development, and manufacturing challenges. Good at thinking out of the box to find unique solutions to problems uncovered during testing.
Communication and teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, product managers, and manufacturing personnel.
Attention to detail: Meticulous attention to detail for consistent testing and good record-keeping.
Continuous improvement mindset: A commitment to continually reviewing and improving existing lab practices, test methods, and equipment for better efficiency, throughput, quality and safety in the lab.
